Case Study Archives: Image library for a university
An example of best-practices in image management, BrandLogic’s Image Manager is integrated into all facets of communications for St. John’s University. The recently-completed identity program for St. John’s included templates for numerous types of literature, so that brochures and other collateral could be produced quickly and easily. The Web site was also template based, so that professors could update the site themselves.
The St. John’s brand program also included very specific photography-style guidelines. These special requirements, combined with the simple, templated ability to create communications quickly, drove the need for instant access to thousands of images.
Now, content managers can easily share images throughout various campuses, agencies, and departments. Users can search using many criteria, and find exactly the photo content they need. Another way the tool allows for easy sharing is by tracking past usage. For example, a professor that is interested in an image from the University View Book would only need to reference the publication number to locate that, and other images associated with it.
An additional benefit is that Image Manager serves as a tool for managing copyright and usage rights.
Created with the user in mind, the tool's straightforward interface is easy-to-use and requires minimal training. Furthermore, the tool simplifies workflow process at the University, increases efficiency and reduces costs.
