Denis Riney quoted in Fortune on the Target/Walmart duality
New York, NY (August 22, 2011) – Denis Riney, Senior Partner of Marketing at Brandlogic, was quoted in a Fortune Magazine article contrasting the Target and Walmart brands.
The two low-price retailers employ very different strategies with their brands. According to Mr. Riney, while Walmart emphasizes frugality, Target appeals to consumers by combining low prices with fun and whimsy.
Target’s strategy seems to be winning out for now, drawing in both low-income consumers and those with money to spend.
