Brandlogic joins global thought leaders at Harvard Business School to advance Integrated Reporting

Brandlogic joined over 60 thought leaders at the first-ever “Workshop on Integrated Reporting: Frameworks and Action Plan” sponsored by Dr. Robert Eccles at the Business and Environment Initiative of Harvard Business School (HBS). Hampton Bridwell, President and CEO, and Denis Riney, Executive Vice President, Marketing attended the two-day workshop held in Cambridge, MA on October 14 and 15, 2010. Dr. Robert Eccles, Professor of Management Practice at HBS, is one of the world's leading authorities on Integrated Reporting and the co-author (with Mike Krzus, former partner with Grant Thornton) of One Report: Integrated Reporting for a Sustainable Strategy. Integrated Reporting is an emerging management discipline that will help executives rethink their business strategies in light of the growing demand for sustainable business practices. By consolidating financial performance measures with non-financial performance information, commonly referred to as environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, businesses can provide investors and other stakeholders a more complete picture of their overall performance.

The proceedings began with an endorsement from Dr. Nitin Nohria, dean of Harvard Business School, who sees an opportunity for HBS to lead the way in advancing Integrated Reporting. Presentations by professionals from organizations including Southwest Airlines, the Global Reporting Initiative, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and others were facilitated by Dr. Eccles over the course of the two-day session. In one of the sessions, Dr. Rosabeth Moss Kanter, who holds the Ernest L. Arbuckle Professorship at Harvard Business School, led a spirited discussion about the interactions between Integrated Reporting, business strategy and the role of the firm in society at large.

Brandlogic will contribute to the publication of an e-book entitled Integrated Reporting Workshop Remarks 2010, to be published this November, in which Hampton Bridwell and Denis Riney will explore the relationships between Integrated Reporting and the potential effects it can have on an organization's corporate brand and overall reputation. The e-book will be used to help get Integrated Reporting on the G20 agenda in November 2011 and help fuel adoption among business leaders, investors, standard setters, regulators, NGO’s and other key stakeholders.

Dr. Eccles sees this event as the first of many opportunities to spread the word about Integrated Reporting. "I was extremely impressed by the quality of the discussions and the thoughtfulness of everyone’s comments...There was a strong consensus that we should hold this workshop again."
